I’m proud to announce that I have been awarded the Associateship (ABIPP) qualification by the British Institute of Professional Photography, recognising the exceptional standard of my landscape photography and marking an important milestone in my career.

The October 2025 BIPP Qualification assessments were held on 22–23 October at The Artistry House, the Institute’s head office in Preston. Panels were judged in person by an expert team of BIPP Fellows, assembled by Su Kaye FBIPP, Chair of Judges. The panel included respected photographers from across multiple disciplines: Gary Hill FBIPP, Paul Wilkinson FBIPP, David Taylor FBIPP, Jess McGovern FBIPP, and John Parris FBIPP.

My submitted portfolio reflects nearly three decades of work in photography and design, blending technical precision with creative expression across landscapes in the Lake District, Yorkshire, Peak District and coastal areas. Using natural light, long exposures, and subtle post-processing, the panel aimed to balance realism with emotion — elements that were highlighted during the judging process as key strengths of the submission.

This year’s assessments included achievements across a range of categories. Rob Sutherland achieved his LBIPP in Landscape Photography and Benjamin Cheng gained LBIPP in Architecture. Andy Farrer and I were both upgraded to ABIPP becoming BIPP Associate photographers for the outstanding standard of our landscape submissions. At the highest level, Stefanie Reinhardt was awarded FBIPP, reflecting exceptional conceptual and technical mastery.

Each panel underwent detailed evaluation of not only technical skill and consistency but also creativity, presentation, and the strength of visual storytelling. Categories featured Landscape, Architecture, and Portraiture, underscoring the breadth of contemporary professional practice within the BIPP community. A recurring theme this year was deep creative exploration, with photographers using the qualification process to refine their artistic voice and elevate their craft.

Su Kaye FBIPP, Chair of Judges, commented:

“It’s been a real pleasure to see the hard work and dedication that members have put into their panel submissions for this round of qualifications. The standard of photography has been exceptionally high, and it’s inspiring to see so many photographers developing their craft and progressing their careers through the BIPP qualification structure. I’d also like to thank our panel of judges, who volunteer their time and expertise to uphold the high standards expected within both the BIPP and the wider profession. As this has been my first year as Chair of Judges, it’s been encouraging to witness such passion and professionalism across all categories, and I look forward to seeing this continue into 2026.”
