Paul was delighted to be asked to shoot the soft launch of the refurbished Haighton Manor for Brunning and Price as it joined their family of pub restaurants.

Strictly by invitation only, Haighton Manor opened its doors at 12.00noon until 4.00pm for a limited number of guests so they could iron out any potential problems and get it perfect for the main opening on the following Wednesday.

For numerous years, the manor house had fulfilled the vital role of a community hospital, providing care and solace to those in recovery. The serene and picturesque vistas, now accessible from the garden room, played a significant role in uplifting the spirits of the convalescents.

The photography was needed to capture the meticulous transformation and refurbishment into a charming country pub that exudes character and preserves its original features.

A grand old bar lies at the heart of the establishment, where local ales flow freely and an extensive collection of whiskies and gins awaits your exploration.

“Very happy with the images from Paul. He managed to capture everything we asked for with a lovely quality to the images too.”

Jake Holmes, Marketing Manager, Brunning and Price

The brief was fairly extensive and was needed to photograph every aspect of the building.

Outside

  • Plenty of exterior and interior shots
  • Overviews / wider shots of all the the different rooms (busy tables of people – staff waiting on etc)
  • People in the bar area
  • Bar tender serving (pulling pints / handing drinks over etc etc.
  • People being served
  • General / wider compositions that show the pub as a busy place and capture the atmosphere.
  • Close ups of the cask ale pumps/ back bar of whiskeys, back bar of gins
  • General closer details that show the style of the pub etc.

The team also asked Paul to capture a team photo. It was no mean feat given they were all hard at work! Other shots showing off the location along with closer details of hanging baskets, flower beds were a requirement.

The final type go photograph needed was food shots. In the words of the client: “These are important. Each of Brunning and Prices’ pubs have their own menus. We did our best to avoid using food photos from one pub in another. So, starters, mains and desserts…”

Regrettably, although the day was pleasant, it was slightly chilly. As a result, the beautiful terrace remained empty, leaving only a handful of guests with the opportunity to relish the fabulous views and surroundings.
