The second time in a matter of months Creagh Concrete, another Irish business, got in touch with Paul to discuss producing some commercial concrete photography for their marketing requirements.

Manchester Airport has recently undergone a £1 billion redevelopment initiative, encompassing the construction of the Terminal 2 extension, three additional finger piers, and a state-of-the-art 3,800-space multi-storey car park that commenced operations in April 2019.

This 9-storey car park was strategically built to compensate for the parking spaces lost due to the Terminal 2 extension and the expansion of the airfield and Paul was approached by Creagh to photograph the installation of the flooring of the car park.

Creagh provided 400mm deep hollowcore planks, each weighing 9.5 tonnes, and delivered in over 1500 shipments. The hollowcore planks effectively cover an expansive area of approximately 80,000m².

The brief was to photograph a delivery of these huge ‘planks’, scale of the project on completed floors, and the team at work applying concrete and levelling it.

It started with a 30 minute health and safety briefing as safety is paramount. Working with natural light, at mid range aperture and tripod, Paul had to complete his commercial concrete photography mission quickly and work with what wa happening as time was of the essence.

The images are still in use on Creagh’s website.
