My cousin Steve Grogan, a superb wedding photographer in his own right referred me to Natalie and Lee as he was already booked for the day. Another Manchester Town Hall wedding, following by the reception at Buile Hill in Salford.
I met with Nat and Lee in Whitfield over a pint for a pre-wedding consult. After agreeing the fee, we chatted and as usual I got to know what they wanted and the style was definitely a candid, documentary style again.
We met again, 10 months later, and they had a little girl! Amazing news and such a lovely couple. They also mentioned flairs… hmmmm
Come the day, I have to say, it was so grounding to see Nat, making bottles up for the little one, hair done, makeup done and veil being held in a carrier bag by her husband to be’s daughter.
You have to laugh though, one of the few times Albert Square didn't have something on it, the wedding car driver dropped the bride at the main door to the Town Hall. For all her guests to see. After helping get the guests inside we made our way to the wedding venue inside the town hall.
I took up my position and waited for Natalie to appear. When she did and they saw each other I witnessed such an outpouring of emotion. They clearly love each other and I have genuinely never seen a couple cry so much. It was lovely and very moving.
Back at Buile Hill, it was decided that they would let of a couple of red flairs. Huge Manchester United fans (that’s cool with me), I shot them as the red mist defended around them and wow what a spectacular show!
As usual I wandered around chatting to the guests and snapping away with my cameras, and the one thing they asked for was for me to stay until the rave hour. Cue 90s house music, goo-sticks and we had a mini rave for an hour. It looked great and it was an absolute blast to be part of it.
After they received their images, Natalie said, “Paul recently photographed my wedding day and the shots are amazing! Paul met with us a number of times before the wedding to ensure our shots were personalised and bespoke to us and our special day and wow were they! If you want amazing documentary style photography then I would not hesitate to recommend Paul to everyone!”
Says it all I think. :D
