I love social media. The way it connects you to people you may never reach is amazing so it was fabulous to get the commission of photographing Tom and Natasha’s wedding in Manchester Town Hall - I love this venue - and then Hotel Gotham in the city centre of Manchester from Twitter!
A great bridal party made the slightly strange bridal prep end up being great fun. The rooms are quite small in Hotel Gotham, so I spent an hour or so chasing bridesmaids and the bride between two rooms as they went from make-up to hair to dresses and so on… great fun and some great wedding photos to. I swear I must have looked like a stalker chasing scantly clad girls around a hotel!
The wedding itself was lovely as usual and we spent a few minutes shooting Tom and Natasha in and around the town hall and the city centre in Manchester before going back to the hotel for the wedding breakfast. In all honesty, the contrast of a white wedding dress against the beautiful stone architecture of the Manchester Town Hall make’s my job easy.
The reception was held upstairs in the bar, and quirky venue with lots of small rooms for quiet conversation. Not a huge place but I set to work anyway, photographing those moments and guests having fun. Moments the Tom and Natasha wouldn’t have seen. That’s what I love about the organic nature of documentary photography. You really do need to adapt and think on your feet. That’s why it’s so important to hire a professional photographer who know’s what to do and has the equipment and experience to deliver.
And I have to say a huge thanks to the lads at Hotel Gotham for sorting out some food for me! Cheers guys!
