A wonderful couple and a wonderful day. This was a first for me photographing a wedding in the Lowry. A quite stunning hotel and as an added benefit a good size room for the bridal prep.

As usual I met with the couple, Peter and Melissa a couple of times before hand to ensure I knew what they wanted and fortunately, aside from a few group shots, the brief was very clear – lots of photos of them and lots of candid images. This was a perfect fit for my documentary style photography.

They also asked for a second shooter – so I brought a colleague with me who stayed for 3-4 hours of the day. I do recommend this, as even in Peter and Melissa’s case, the pre wedding shots were both done at the hotel so it allows me more time with the bride and also, during the ceremony, you have two wedding photographers shooting from different view points of the room.

Once the wedding was done, and the meal and speeches were over, Peter and Melissa took some time and walked over the bridge to talk and enjoy each others company for a few minutes. I grabbed my telephoto lens a shot away at them. I have to say, I loved this because it really captured them in the city scape provided by Manchester.

The rest of the day went smoothly and as I always do, I just wandered round talking a photos with my camera. No posing, just candid shots, just as Peter and Melissa asked for.

They even had a few nice words for me too, “Paul was our wedding photographer in May at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester and he was fantastic. He was great to work with from the first meeting onward, really flexible and a genuinely nice guy. The photographs were superb and he was really great on the day, making sure he captured all theshots that were important to us.  I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anybody looking for a wedding photographer.”

It was a pleasure guys x
