I took a trip over the the east coast of Yorkshire last week to see my parent's who were very kindly having two of my three children in their caravan for a few days. Anyway, on the way there I spotted this gorgeous poppy field and I promised myself I would stop off on the way home if the weather was being kind. Well, as luck would have it the weather was behaving rather nicely and even though the poppies were dying off, at a distance it still made for a lovely yorkshire landscape, even though I plonked the horizon through the middle of the shot. The way the sun burst through the clouds back lit the flowers beautifully and really made the field look like it was a liquid field of red. In this case I decided to merge two photographs together to give me the sky and amount of poppies. Something a bit different for me.
With the forecast for the rest of the summer somewhat gloomy, it did make me think if this was the last of the summer 'red' wine!
